Abstract

Self-medication is a persistent public health issue, particularly when medications are used without an assessment of symptoms, clinical conditions, and the associated risks. Easy access, recommendations from family members, and the reuse of previous treatments often lead to decisions that can compromise patient safety. Responsible self-care requires qualified information regarding indications, dosage, duration of treatment, and the need for professional evaluation. In this context, pharmaceutical guidance serves as a clinical and educational intervention that helps reduce preventable harm (World Health Organization, 2024).
