Abstract

This experience report aimed to describe the experience of multi-professional residents of the Family Health Strategy in carrying out an educational action focused on prostate cancer prevention, developed within the scope of Primary Health Care. The multi-professional activity was conducted by residents as part of an educational action alluding to prostate cancer. The action was developed during the "Health Circuit in the Square" project, held monthly in a public space within the assigned territory. The activity was held in connection with the Blue November campaign and was organized into thematic stations, with health education conducted through an active and playful methodology, using a dynamic called "fishing." Significant community participation was observed, with the involvement of adult men, the elderly, and other passersby. The methodology used fostered dialogue, interaction, and the collective construction of knowledge. Gaps in understanding about prostate cancer were identified, especially regarding preventive exams and the importance of early diagnosis, in addition to the presence of taboos, fears, and prejudices related to the digital rectal exam. It is concluded that the experience showed that educational actions in community spaces, combined with the use of active methodologies, are effective strategies for promoting men's health. The relevance of multidisciplinary action in Primary Health Care for strengthening ties with the community and encouraging self-care is also highlighted.
