Abstract

Quality of life has been the subject of intense debates and studies in various fields of knowledge, such as health, economics, sociology and psychology (Martelli, 1995). Despite its complexity, this concept can be understood as a state of physical, mental, emotional and social well-being that goes beyond the simple absence of disease. However, the search for quality of life is not limited to the individual dimension; it is, rather, a shared responsibility between individuals, society and public policies.
